Craft that carries meaning

Objects madeto keep, gift, and pass down.

Some gifts cannot be rushed. The ones we treasure take time, care and meaning — a peony opening in silk thread, a story finished by hand. That belief brought together two women, both surnamed Zhou (Chou — in Chinese, also the word for silk): one the inheritor of a three-generation Chinese embroidery legacy, the other a curator with a British sensibility. Royal Chou is a research-led luxury embroidery house — slow-made, silk-inspired gifts and cultural experiences that combine heritage craft, symbolism, modern design and a refined East–West story. Kits to learn, heirlooms to gift: every stitch invites you to see the world through fuller perspectives — and to pass beauty on.

The hands behind Royal Chou

Joni Zhou, Master Embroiderer

Joni Zhou has spent four decades at the needle — a four-time gold medallist of China's Hundred Flowers Craft Award, art college professor, and teacher to more than two thousand students. Her work has been shown in over ninety exhibitions worldwide, and in October 2025 she lectured at the Royal School of Needlework. Her award-winning Springs and Autumns on the Ridge translates the ceramic roof ridge of Hong Kong's Lu Ban Temple into silk: over 300 thread colours, ten months in the making.
